Andalusia, the birthplace of Flamenco, is known as being one of the most fascinating provinces of Spain due to its unique architecture, culture, viniculture, history, cuisine, and picturesque views. When visiting Andalusia, it is possible to see archaeological ruins from the Romans, Moors, Sephardic Jews, and the Catholic Church all combined into one province. 

Granada is known for possessing one of the best-preserved Moorish palaces in continental Europe called “Alhambra.” Nerja, Frigliana, and Ronda are known for being stunning white hill towns hovering over Spain’s famous Costa del Sol that is becoming prominent for local gastronomy and art exhibitions. Antequera started producing olive oil over 3,000 years ago and still is one of Spain’s most important areas of oil production today. Seville is the heart and soul of Flamenco, but it is also one of the architectural gems of Andalusia with its perfectly intact colonial architecture as well as structures from the World Fair in the early 20th century. Cordoba is home to the Mezquita of Cordoba, which is one of Spain’s most famous architectural sites that has been a Synagogue, Mosque, and Cathedral over the centuries as well as a unique local cuisine that showcases multiple cultural influences that have inhabited Cordoba since the 9th century.

This tour is designed for a traveler that is passionate about gastronomy and wine pairing that also interested in history and architecture. The emphasis of this tour will be diving in and discovering the cultural sources of Andalusia’s unique gastronomy and architecture through a relaxing and enjoyable “paseo” (stroll) through some of Andalusia’s best gastronomic and historical cities.

Depart the US, flying overnight to Granada, Spain

DAY 1, GRANADA: Granada is one of the most important cities in Andalusia that showcases the Moorish influence that lasted for centuries in Southern Spain. In Granada, one of the best-preserved Moorish palaces in Spain called “Alhambra.” Our tour will take a tour of the Alhambra and then enjoy an afternoon cooking class of local cuisine, lunch & a wine tasting of local wines produced close to Granada.

DAYS 2, NERJA & FRIGLIANA: Nerja is one of the most picturesque coastal towns in Spain’s Costa del Sol. While traveling to Nerja, we will stop to visit one of the most picturesque white hill towns in Andalusia called Frigliana for a gourmet lunch. Upon arriving to Nerja, our tour will enjoy sensational local seafood along with a gourmet cheese & wine tasting while admiring one of the jewels of Spain’s Costa del Sol.

DAYS 3, RONDA: Ronda is one of the most famous white hill towns in Andalusia that is becoming a known foodie and cultural heritage destination. Our tour will admire historic Moorish bathhouses, one of the oldest Spanish riding schools and bullfighting rings in Spain as well as the impressive Puente Nuevo, a substantial bridge nestled through two small hills in Ronda. In the evening, we will enjoy a 15-course food and wine pairing experience with locally sourced culinary ingredients and locally produced wines.

DAYS 4-5, ANTEQUERA & SEVILLE: Antequera is one of the cities at the heart of Spain’s olive oil production that is one of the most important industries in Andalusia. On our way to Seville, we will visit Antequera for an olive oil tasting at an olive oil estate paired with local wines and tapas. Upon arriving in Seville, we will take a horse carriage ride to appreciate one of Andalusia’s architectural gems. We will dive into local cuisine in Seville by taking a cooking class with a local chef. In the evenings, we will learn about Flamenco, the world-renown dance that originally comes from Seville.

DAY 6, CORDOBA: Cordoba, is a city with a fascinating mixture of cultures that is still prominent in the city’s local culture and architecture. For 800 years, Cordoba was a place where Muslims, Jewish, and Christian people coexisted peacefully. The traces of this period are still visible in the city today in gastronomy, art, and scientific innovations. Our tour will visit the Mezquita of Cordoba, a structure which has been a Cathedral, Mosque, and Synagogue over the ages as well as enjoy a food and wine tasting dinner at a former noble mansion with sensational local cuisine.

DAY 7: Depart to return home or to continue traveling throughout Europe.
