Depart the US, flying overnight to Catania

DAY 1 Enjoy a walking tour of Catania, with its Baroque architecture. Visit Catania’s fabulous open air market – the largest, most vibrant market in Sicily. Feast on a welcome dinner of delicious Sicilian food and wine.

DAYS 2-3, SIRACUSA: Continue to the ancient city of Siracusa and spend two nights on the peninsula of Ortigia, the oldest part of the city. Your expert guide takes you through Neapolis Archaeological Park, where you will see the Greek Theater, the Roman amphitheater, the Altar of Hieron II, the Ear of Dionysus, and other ancient stone quarries that supplied stone for the ancient city. The cathedral in Siracusa (Duomo) was built over the Temple of Athena (5th century BC).Visit the Greek theater dating from the 5th century B.C. and take a guided tour of the most fascinating neighborhoods of Ortigia. Taste local products at the town’s market.

DAY 4, AGRIGENTO: Enjoy a guided tour of the UNESCO site of the Villa Romana del Casale, an incredible Roman villa whose thousands of colorful mosaics have been perfectly preserved. Check into your charming inn outside the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. Enjoy a gourmet Sicilian feast.

DAYS 5-6, MARSALA: Visit the magnificent Valley of the Temples, dating to 520 B.C. These spectacular Greek temples make the ruins of Rome and Pompeii seem modern! Take an excursion to Eriche, perched on a mountaintop with panoramic views of the surrounding coastline and countryside. Participate in a cooking class at a local farm.

DAYS 7-9, TAORMINA: Explore Taormina with your expert local guide, including a visit to the ancient Greek Theatre. Spend three nights in an elegant hotel in the gorgeous hill-top town of Taormina. Visit the still-active volcano of Mt. Etna and enjoy a wine-tasting lunch at a baron-owned winery.

DAYS 10-12, MALTA: Malta, situated in the central Mediterranean Sea, with Italy to the north and Tunisia and Libya to the west and south, features a rich history and ancient sites.
