The Scents Of Spring On Our Amalfi Coast Tour
I recently returned from leading a 10-day Capri & Amalfi Coast tour, and I can’t stop thinking about the beauty of the area. In fact, I fall in love with it a little more each time I go. The scents that permeate the air, the rugged coastline, the incredible variety of fresh seafood, cheeses and pastas, and the warm welcome of locals culminate to make a perfect vacation.
Our Amalfi Coast tour group started in Naples, where, for 2 nights, we stayed at a luxurious waterfront hotel. From there, we wandered the lively streets of Naples and had espresso at what we were told was THE BEST place to have espresso in the city; we also visited the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Pompei and Herculaneum. Honestly, though, the real magic began when we set foot on the ferry to Capri…
The quaint island is striking in its landscape, and the best way to appreciate it is definitely from the comfortable bow of a private boat! We had an entire afternoon to ourselves aboard a boat fillehile we walked amid the myriad labyrinth alleyways in Capri, Ravello and Positano, the sweet scent of jasmine was everpresent. Hiking along the famous Sentiero degli Dei (the Path of the Gods), we encountered poppies, wildflowers and the largest wild rosemary bushes I have ever seen.To see lemon and olive groves as well as grape vines terraced precipitously on the side of the cliff! The air was saturated with fragrance.
For these reasons and many more — too many to mention — I am eagerly awaiting my next Amalfi Coast tour. Olde Ipswich Tours will be going to this region again this October on one of our Sicily tours: Rome, the Amalfi Coast and Sicily Tour. Would you care to join me?
